As the automobile industry struggles to maintain a healthy bottom line, Melissa Hubler, the group leader of payroll & benefits, strives to spread wellness to hardened assembly workers at Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc. (SIA).

Convincing a group of typically middle-aged men who work 10-hour days on their feet to take a walk after hours is no easy task, but Hubler has the employees at SIA flexing their muscles and toning their financial understanding – which is exactly why she’s been named the winner of the first-ever VSP "GetFit" Benny Award.

Wellness infiltrates all areas of the company as Hubler and her team strives to revolutionize the company’s culture. For example, SIA provides 90/10 beef in the cafeteria with a subtle, often unnoticed, tiffany clearance, sign, "courtesy of the wellness program."

Alternately, when the company wellness cart passes through the assembly lines to pass out information on smoking cessation, Hubler and team really are sticking their necks out. Nevertheless, the feedback they have received has been gracious and thankful. In addition, quite a few chronic diseases have been nipped in the bud at SIA’s onsite occupational clinic, where associates can receive a free complete physical including biometric laboratory screenings once every two years.

One step at a time

When Hubler introduced SIA’s wellness program, the company had 89.6% of 2,800 full-time employees lined up to complete a health risk assessment. What brought workers out in droves? Time had been carved out for workers to take the health assessments during their work shift.

"At first [the program] was purely meant to pique the interest of our associates; we wanted them to become interested and participate in the program so we made it very easy to do so. Our first year, we took time off the production line for every associate to complete an HRA and then we gave them with a cash contribution to their FSA for doing so," explains Hubler.

Next, tiffany on sale, the team turned its attention toward results, requiring employees to complete three steps to earn a $200 contribution to their flexible spending accounts. The three stages are:

1. Completing all age- and gender-relevant screenings and exams, as defined by the American Health Association. SIA made nearly all of the tests available onsite, except mammogram, testicular and dental exams.

Each year employees have the option of filling out a questionnaire or completing a biometric screening. Workers then receive a 20-page break down of the state of their health. Thanks to Hubler’s efforts, 64% of SIA associates cleared this step.

2. Earning 50 wellness points in disease and illness prevention activities or educational programs. Employees can take online disease management classes or participate in a coaching program at SIA’s wellness center, occupational clinic or health insurer, all onsite.

Employees also can earn points by taking advantage of the onsite recreation center – complete with certified fitness instructors at no charge to the employee and their family.

There also are weight and nutrition programs, which Hubler and her team are considering expanding upon in the coming years.

Associates also may earn points through participation in the company’s Financially Fit Program, discount tiffany key rings, which is most dear to Hubler’s heart.

"The Financially Fit Program is important to me because I see the progress we are making in health and wellness, which is aimed to help our Associates live longer, healthier and more productive lives," she says."It is designed to help Associates prepare themselves financially so they can afford to live longer."

The company has monthly "workouts," where they invite financial experts from investment management firms, banks, law firms and Purdue University to give seminars covering topics like the ABCs of the 401(k), debt management and health-care consumerism.

Workers can complete their requirements for stage two by investing in a 401(k), setting up their paychecks for direct deposit and participating in voluntary financial benefit programs including free investment advice.

Hubler feels that these offerings are just as important as the healthy lifestyle initiatives.

"Having the unique opportunity to oversee both benefit and payroll functions at my company, the data shows me that associates in financial distress more often than not suffer stress related illnesses and/or incur stress related absenteeism leading me to conclude that one’s financial well-being is in many cases directly related to one’s physical well-being," she says.

"To invest in a wellness program without a financial wellness component would be like offering health insurance benefitswithout a prescription drug benefit; it would just be incomplete."

3. Being smoke-free. As long as employees make a concerted effort they can complete this stage which includes onsite tobacco cessation courses and covers 100% of all smoking-cessation medication, including Chantix and the nicotine patch.

Changing culture, minds, tiffany bracelets clearance, bodies

"Rather than it being about getting the cash reward and incentive, hearing people tell of the success they’ve had and how much better they feel" has been the most promising development in their wellness program, shop for tiffany bracelets, boasts Hubler.

Hubler advises that employers "really try to keep [the message] out there, be persistent, and recognize that change is difficult for employees, but that over time they’ll come around.

It’s tough, it’s a cultural change for companies but persistence and patience and really listening to their employees and what their needs are and what keeps them from participating if they are not doing so already is key."

Hubler has encouraged the SIA employees to step out of line once in a while, enjoy a walk on one of the company trails or take an hour from their busy schedule to visit a health caregiver.

With her efforts she has reformulated company culture and employee paradigms. She’s succeeded in cultivating a support system and wellness plan for employees in the midst of their trek toward a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle.

Women of different faiths joined together at Christ Church Cathedral downtown Thursday night to shatter negative stereotypes of Muslim women and to observe the traditions of the Ramadan iftar.

The sold-out event drew 200 women who were there to teach or learn about Muslims, the pillars of their faith and how they recognize Ramadan, one of the holiest months in the Islamic calendar, which is a time marked by fasting, prayer and repentance. The evening included the iftar — a full meal that marks the breaking of the fast at sunset. Three dozen local Muslim women of diverse backgrounds were recruited to sit at the dining tables to discuss their unique life experiences with their guests.

A true picture

Kafah Bachari Manna of Houston, co-founder of the committee that organized the program, said the event was the first of its kind in Houston focusing on the Islamic faith and was designed to present a true picture of Muslim women. Those Muslims heading discussions at the dining tables Thursday included doctors, lawyers, associate professors, engineers, authors, writers and mothers.

"We’re simply here to present ourselves as we are," said Manna, a corporate attorney and writer. "We are outspoken, pendants, independent,Charm bracelet, strong-minded, successful, professional women from all walks of life."

Rose Ashraf of Spring, necklaces, an American Italian who converted from Catholicism to Islam 36 years ago, was among those leading the table discussions. "This was my very small way of reaching out to non-Muslims to really help depict a different light about Muslims," she said. "It’s so frustrating for me to see how Muslims are painted as these terrible, criminal terrorists — it’s heartbreaking because I know that it’s not true. It is a few people who have hijacked the name of Islam for their own agenda.

"We’re not here to convert anybody," said Ashraf, executive director of food services at Aramark/Houston Independent School District. Of her own conversion experience, she said,Charm pendant, "I don’t feel like I’m praying to a different God. We share so much of the same doctrine between the Catholics, the Jews and the Muslims. And we are truly of one Abrahamic faith. We may pray in a different language and we may have different styles, but the message is absolutely the same."

A major difference is that Muslims view Jesus Christ as a prophet, she said.

Baptist wants to learn

Anneliese Davis of Houston, a Baptist, said she attended the event to learn more about Islam, particularly in light of today’s cultural events. "With everything that’s going on now, I think things like this are more important than ever so we can understand each other," Davis said of the educational event. "I think it’s such an opportunity to learn about another culture and religion, and that’s the only way we’re going to get to any kind of understanding."

Manna echoed that need for understanding. She told the audience the image of Muslim women in the media never matched up to her own self-image.

"Today in the shadow of 9/11, the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, the Israel-Palestine conflict and all the other ailments that plague humanity, including the current controversy over Park 51, we find ourselves overcome by the differences and difficulties we find in each other, rings," Manna told the audience. "It’s often too easy to (confine) ourselves within a narrow belief system … rather than reach out into the unknown certainty of the other. Tonight is about looking beyond stereotypes and shedding our fears."

Beacon Enterprise Solutions Group, Inc. (OTCBB: BEAC) (www.askbeacon.com), an emerging global leader in the design, implementation and management of high performance Information Technology Systems (ITS) infrastructure solutions, today announces the execution of an additional engagement to perform ITS services at 3 locations in the Middle East for an existing international Fortune 100 client.

Beacon will be responsible for the entire ITS project, which includes providing cable infrastructure engineering and design services in three cities in the Middle East. It will be responsible for the sourcing of raw materials, service installation and all quality control efforts to meet the client’s standard engineering requirements. Post installation, Beacon will employ its proprietary I3MAC (Innovative, Intelligent, Installation, Moves, Adds and Changes) managed service application to provide comprehensive, real-time monitoring of the clients installed service to maintain predictable and consistent service delivery in compliance with the client’s enterprise standards.

"This existing pharmaceutical client recently acquired a company in the Middle East and engaged Beacon to assess the ITS infrastructure at three locations," said Bruce Widener, CEO of Beacon. "After successfully assessing the facilities, we were awarded this new engagement which is expected to generate approximately $1 million in additional revenue over the next two quarters. Having demonstrated our technology prime model for ITS services is the right solution for this client, we continue to work with them to gain additional ITS responsibilities. This additional contract further illustrates how critical offering global capabilities are when offering comprehensive ITS solutions and strategies for technology-driven corporate enterprises with multi-national facilities."

FIRST LADY MICHELLE OBAMA DELIVERS REMARKS AT “LET’S MOVE” EVENT Return to Tiffany Oval tag key ring NEW HAMPSHIRE ESTATES ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, AS RELEASED BY THE WHITE HOUSE

MAY 19, 2010

SPEAKERS: FIRST LADY MICHELLE OBAMA

FIRST LADY OF MEXICO MARGARITA ZAVALA

[*] OBAMA: Thank you all for sharing. I mean, one of the reasons we came to this school is because of what you all are doing here. I don’t know if you know, but…

STUDENT: Can you come to Field Day?

OBAMA: You know, I’ll see. I’ll see what day it is and see what else is going on, Return to Tiffany Oval tag pendant it sounds like a lot of fun, and maybe I could wear jeans and sneakers and really get under the house.

But one of the things that I’m doing as First Lady is making sure that kids are healthy and eating right and getting the right kind of exercise, which is why what you’re doing here at your school — the fact that you’ve got such wonderful teachers who are focused on your health and how you eat. We’re going to go into the lunch room, and I don’t know if we’re going to meet with you guys, but some of your classmates.

And we’re going to see how you eat family-style and how you’re learning about how your bodies work, and how exercise is so important for your heart and the system all works together, and how food blends into that, because all of that is going to help you all develop really good habits so that when you’re adults you’re eating healthy. And if you decide to have kids of your own, you can teach them these habits.

But it’s so — you are so blessed to be in a school like this that’s focusing and giving you this kind of information, and making it fun, right, because what you see is that exercise and play — that’s all exercise is, it’s a bunch of play. It’s just games. But you get your heart moving, and you’ve got to do that.

What they say is that kids should get 60 minutes of exercise every day. And you Square cuff links got how many minutes were we…

MR. RYAN: About 25.

OBAMA: You just got 25 minutes already. So if you went home and ran around for another 25 minutes, or rode your bike, and you did that every day, you’d be doing exactly what you need to do as a kid. But you’re fortunate — kind of fitness — but you’re fortunate to be able to get that stuff here at this school.

What do you have to say, sweetie?

STUDENT: When I go somewhere with my mom, I always bring an apple to eat.

OBAMA: That’s right. See, that’s a good example of healthy snacks, right, because you don’t have to have a bag of chips. You don’t have to have — what?

STUDENT: Junk food.

OBAMA: Or junk food, right. You can have nuts or raisins, an apple, Tiffany & Co bangle?

STUDENT: Banana.

OBAMA: Banana, that’s right.

STUDENT: Even I ride my bike…

OBAMA: That’s great. That’s all good stuff.

STUDENT: (inaudible) every weekend (inaudible) when I go to my grandma’s house, we — they play the Wii…

OBAMA: The Wii Fit? Yep, Malia and Sasha have that, too.

STUDENT: — go out and ride our bikes.

OBAMA: That’s it. That’s exactly what…

STUDENT: That’s why I wanted (inaudible)

OBAMA: That’s great. That’s exactly what you should be doing.

What, sweetie?

STUDENT: Does your daughters do exercise?

OBAMA: They do. They do it at school like you do, and they do it at home, because you know what…

STUDENT: Do they ride their bikes?

OBAMA: They do. Yeah, they ride their bikes, they do.

STUDENT: Do you do exercise?

OBAMA: I do. I exercise every single day, unless I’m really…

STUDENT: Barack Obama?

OBAMA: He exercises every morning, every single morning.

STUDENT: I know what his favorite sport is.

OBAMA: What’s his favorite sport?

STUDENT: Basketball.

OBAMA: Basketball, oh yeah. And if he can play that, he’d play that every day.

STUDENT: Mrs. Obama, I have a question.

OBAMA: What’s your question?

STUDENT: I have a question. My mom said — my mom said that — I think that she says that Barack Obama is taking everybody away that doesn’t have papers. OBAMA: Yeah, well, that’s something that we have to work on, right, to make sure that people can be here with the right kind of papers, right? That’s exactly right.

STUDENT: But my mom doesn’t have…

(CROSSTALK)

OBAMA: Yeah, well, we have to work on that. We have to fix that, and that everybody has got to work together in Congress to make sure that that happens. That’s right.

OBAMA: Yes, sweetie.

STUDENT: My mom went to where you all vote. It was so cold. She was standing and she was sleepy.

OBAMA: Oh, but she stayed there and voted, right? That’s good. Tiffany 1837 bangle you’ve got to work hard to vote, you know? That’s part of what we call our democracy, right, that you have to vote to make sure that the people who are in office making laws are representing what you think. And sometimes it’s not easy to vote. Sometimes you have to stand in lines. And that means when you get older, you’re going to vote every time, right, even if it means standing in line in the cold, right? That’s a good thing.

All right, sweetie.

STUDENT: (inaudible)

ZAVALA: I can’t hear you.

OBAMA: Speak up.

STUDENT: I hope you teach your daughters about fitness and health.

OBAMA: We do, we do. At our house, we talk about fitness a lot. One plays soccer, one plays basketball. Both of them take tennis. They go to the gym on a regular basis. They ride their bikes. Being active is part — because the thing about being active is that it helps you with this muscle, too. That’s the most important thing about exercise.

It’s like you wouldn’t think — you’d think that exercise is just about muscles in your arms and legs, but the most important muscle that exercise works is your brain muscle, this thing in your head, you know, and that’s why we know it’s important for kids to eat healthy and get a lot of exercise, because you all learn better, right, because when you come out here for 25 minutes and you run around, then you’re ready to go back to school and in your classrooms and do what?

STUDENT: Exercise.

OBAMA: No, when you go back to the…

STUDENT: Learn.

OBAMA: Listen and learn, that’s right.

But now I’m going to turn it over to Mrs. Zavala who I know might want to say a few words just to you all, as well.

ZAVALA: Thank you. Thank you very much. The President Felipe Calderon is Tiffany 1837 Double cross pendant president of Mexico. And we have three kids. Maria is 13 years old and she likes ballet.

OBAMA: Ballet.

STUDENT: I like ballet.

ZAVALA: And Luis Felipe is the second one, and he loves soccer. It’s a wonderful…

OBAMA: He wants to — how old is Felipe?

ZAVALA: Felipe is 11.

STUDENT: How old is Maria? And Maria, 13. And Juan Pablo…

OBAMA: She has a daughter.

ZAVALA: … he’s seven, and he likes karate.

STUDENT: I like karate.

(LAUGHTER)

ZAVALA: I want to speak in Spanish. I know somebody can understand me. She is going to translate for me and for you.

(THROUGH TRANSLATOR): In Mexico we’re also very preoccupied, the adults, and also that children throughout the world will exercise and be healthy so they can learn better. Because as Mrs. Michelle Obama says, exercise is important for the body and for the brain. It’s important to learn mathematics, history, but also to do exercise so you can learn better.

Michelle and I want your entire generation, our children — we want them to grow Tiffany 1837 Hoop earrings happy and healthy.

But that also depends a lot on you — that you exercise every day and you eat in a more healthy way and you know what foods are healthy and what foods aren’t. And if you prefer the healthy food, it will be better for the world for you to grow healthy and happy, and it’ll be good for the world.

Thank you very much.

A Rochester woman and a Spring Valley man are wanted by authorities for allegedly burglarizing the Windmill Hotel in January.

Mower County judge Fred Wellmann filed criminal complaints and arrest tiffany sale Wednesday against Shelly Anne Barbian, 32, and Brian Keith Rathbun, 44. Both are charged with felony third-degree burglary and felony theft.

According to the complaints, the incident was first reported to the Mower County Sheriff’s Department on Jan. 3. The manager of the Dexter-based hotel said she had found a number of “ransacked” rooms. She also said the front desk was apparently rifled through and a set of master keys were missing.

Because of slow business, the manager said the hotel was closed at the time to general patronage. She said the only person staying in the hotel was a 56-year-old man who resided at the hotel on a long-term basis.

Authorities spoke with this man. He said as part of his living arrangements, he did nightly inspections. The night before the burglary was reported, he noticed nothing odd at around 7:30 p.m. as he walked around the hotel. He said he did hear a loud noise later that night but did not investigate, the complaint states.

On Jan. 4, a detective from the Fillmore County Sheriff’s Department called Mower County tiffany rings sale. He asked if they happened to be investigating a burglary at the Windmill, because Rathbun had been apprehended with a large number of the hotel’s bar tokens in his possession.

Mower County deputies learned that the other missing items, which included the keys, a video surveillance system, a small TV and a number of bottles of liquor, were also found with Rathbun. A few days after that, Mower County authorities discovered shoe prints outside one of the hotel’s doors that were matched to Rathbun’s boots, the complaint states.

In addition, footage from the recovered surveillance system showed Rathbun and a woman entering the hotel together. Hotel logs also indicated that Rathbun had checked in on Jan. 2, which the manager said she had forgotten about initially.

She said she recalled that he came to the hotel and asked for a room for him and his girlfriend because he was experiencing vehicle problems.

A woman identified as being with Rathbun, Brandi Kay Josselyn, 38, was arrested March 11. However, an incarcerated Rathbun told authorities that they had the wrong person.

He said the woman with him was in fact Barbian, the complaint states.

Rathbun went on to explain that he was at the hotel to buy methamphetamine from another man. He said Barbian was the girlfriend of that other man and that she was monitoring him while the other man went to retrieve the drugs. Rathbun said he and Barbian checked into the hotel together, then later decided to tiffany bracelets sale the various items.

It is unclear whether the drug sale occurred and whether the other man could face any criminal charges.

Tiffany & Co.’s fiscal third-quarter earnings edged down 1% as lower costs nearly offset sales drops. The upscale tiffany enjoyed strong sales in Europe and most of Asia.

Tiffany boosted its earning view for the year, saying November is off to a good start and it is hopeful about sales through the rest of the holiday season.

Results improved in many product categories during the third quarter, especially later in the period, investor-relations chief Mark Aaron said in a conference call.

The change largely reflected easier comparisons to last year’s weak sales, “but we think may also reflect some improvement in underlying demand in some markets,” Mr. Aaron said. Tiffany sales are most soft in its highest-priced products.

The Asia-Pacific region, except for Japan, where demand is still weak, and Europe achieved better-than-expected sales. Those overseas results, combined with ongoing expense restraints, contributed to profit above Tiffany’s prior forecast.

Sales in the Americas dropped 9%, with U.S. sales at stores open at least a year down 10% and off 8% at its New York flagship store. The declines were less sharp than experienced earlier this year.

In Europe, sales rose 16% excluding foreign-exchange effects, with same-store sales up 9%. In the Asia-Pacific region, same-store sales declined 3%, with weak sales in Japan offsetting strength elsewhere in the region.

For the quarter ended Oct. 31, Tiffany posted a profit of $43.3 million, or 35 cents a share, from $43.8 million, or 35 cents a share, a year earlier. Earnings from continuing operations fell to 34 cents from 36 cents. Revenue decreased 2.9% to $598.2 million. Excluding currency changes, sales fell 5% and same-store sales tiffany bracelets 6%.

Analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters had forecast a profit of 24 cents a share on $575 million in revenue.

For the fourth quarter, Tiffany anticipates a mid-single-digit percentage increase in sales. Analysts’ mean estimate calls for 6% growth to $892 million, according to a survey of analysts by Thomson Reuters.

Tiffany stock, which has almost doubled in 2009, rose 4.9% to $43.89 Wednesday in 4 p.m. composite trading on the New York Stock Exchange.

Tiffany is well-placed to gain market share as the economy improves and other jewelry chains go out of business because Tiffany has kept its cachet with restraint on promotions, said Edward Yruma, retail analyst at KeyBanc Capital Markets.

The jeweler raised its full-year guidance to $1.88 to $1.98 a share with sales down about 8%. The company’s prior forecast, from August, was for a profit of $1.65 to $1.75 on a 10% sales decline.

Gross margin fell to 54.8% from 56.3%. That was largely offset by overhead costs declining 2%, income-tax expenses slumping 43%, and tiffany pendants and other costs falling 22%.

Spreads a highly versatile and sophisticated array of jewels this seasonDamas, the world renowned jeweller and watch retailer, unveils Annamaria Cammilli’s new floral fantasies in the form of pendant chains, earrings, brooches and rings for women of discerning taste. Fusing the warm glow of gold in all its multi-hued versions with the dazzle of diamonds and various coloured stones such as amethysts, fume quartz and onyx, the ‘Lady of Flowers’ once again delights us with jewels inspired by nature, her perennial muse. Tawhid Abdullah, Managing Director Damas Jewellery, commented, “Cammilli’s designs capture nature’s essence to transform it into designs displaying a delicate play of light and colour. Intricate workmanship offers charming and beautiful jewels that present a lifetime of joy for its wearer.”

Cammilli’s rare artistry displays destiny’s hand at work. Her brand of jewel-making, while having roots in the old goldsmith traditions, continually researches and incorporates technology. The ‘painterly’ effect is achieved with the help of four new alloys that offer as many tonalities of gold for experimentation in work and finish. Today, the designer collaborates with her designer-daughter Raffaella and top Florentine goldsmiths to bring her unique designs to life.

Delectable new jewelsAs a collection celebrating the beauty of the most romantic blossom in fully unfurled glory, the jewels in Black Rose see blooms whose every petal is painstakingly ‘sketched’ and highlighted by diamond dazzle. Simply pick your blooms in mysterious shades of black rhodium, orange gold or your perennial favourite yellow gold in a spread of pendant chains, earrings and rings. The Hypnosis collection blends orange gold, white gold with a delicate sprin-kling of diamonds with a smoothly polished pendant chains.

The Boheme’s rings capture the charm of rose blooms whose petals are ruffled by the wind in a blend of pink gold touched by diamond glitter, and the Cashmere collection sees the designer recreate the rose in yet another neo-art version casually spinning thin gold chords around large oval shaped pink amethysts, prasiolites and fume quartz to present pendant chains and rings dotted by diamonds.

The Narcotics and Gang Investigations Section (NAGIS) of the Chicago Police Department dubbed their latest crackdown on drug trafficking in the North Lawndale area as “Hill Street Blues II.”

But this one, unlike the television version of the famous cop drama, tiffany had no commercials.

NAGIS Commander Eugene Williams said at a press conference Wednesday that his unit capped a seven-day roundup by arresting 17 individuals while issuing warrants for the arrest of three more. Investigators also recovered more than $111,000 in cash, eight cars (two had traps for hiding guns and narcotics), jewelry, furs, computers, jet skis and a motorcycle.

“We will be making more arrests and more seizures,” Williams declared while addressing the media at the police department’s Homan Square storage facility. “We’re confident that we’ve eliminated this particular operation,” he said in response to questions about ongoing narcotics trafficking city-wide.

Community, school and political leaders in the North Lawndale area held a press conference in front of the Penn Elementary School near 16th and Avers Avenue to discuss the increase in gang violence and drug sales following the murder of a high-ranking gang member. Later, Supt. Terry G. Hillard directed the NAGIS to address community concerns and improve the quality of life in the area.

After several months, NAGIS was able to identify a principal supplier of drugs to the target area. Williams identified 29-year-old Reginald Smith of the 400 block of North Wabash as the supplier to the narcotics operation.

Smith, along with co-conspirators Marco Smith, 23, of the 19000 block of Marylake Lane in Country Club Hills and 23-year-old Marcus Johnson, of the 300 block of North Pine, face charges that can net them as much as 30 years imprisonment for conspiring to distribute white heroin in the target area.

Evidence of their involvement and roles in the conspiracy has been documented, which includes undercover buys and surveillance videotapes that were presented to the Cook County state’s attorney’s office.

“Living this so-called good life comes with a stiff price,” said Williams. “First and foremost, you become morally bankrupt when you deal narcotics.

“What price is someone willing to pay to be the `King of the Hood?’ One’s Soul?”

Besides cash, vehicles, including a 1997 Cadillac Catera; 2000 Mitsubishi Montero 4X4; 1999 Mercedes Benz CLK 430; 2000 Range Rover (containing hidden compartment to conceal drugs, cash and weapons); 1997 GMC Savanna Conversion Van; 1999 Range Rover; 1996 Ford Taurus (with hidden compartment); and a 1997 Oldsmobile Ciera were confiscated.

Weapons include two 12 gauge shotgun; Taurus .40 caliber pistol; .40 Smith and Wesson pistol; .45 caliber handgun; .44 caliber Magnum handgun; .38 caliber revolver; .32 caliber five-shot revolver; .45 caliber Ruger semi-automatic pistol; two 9 mm semi-automatic pistols; .25 caliber automatic handgun; and a .357 Magnum handgun.

Along with 52 grams of white heroin with an estimated street value in excess of $9,000, undercover investigators also confiscated six computers, a motorcycle and several items of jewelry including two Cartier watches, a Rolex watch, a Movado watch, diamond earrings and a diamond tennis bracket.

Also seized under the Asset Forfeiture Unit of the Organized Crime Division and Federal agencies were two fur coats, a 50-inch color television with a video cassette recorder, a fax machine and a currency counter.

Investigators concluded that 18-year-old Kenyana Porter, of the 1600 block of South Harding, and 28-year-old Tiffany Harris worked in a capacity similar to that as “bag ladies.”

Runners arrested include 26-year-old Jack Pearson of the 1400 block of South Lawndale; 30-year-old Anthony Burris of the 1400 block of North Lotus; 18-year-old Quinton Charles who has not been captured but a warrant issued for his arrest; 25-year-old Darnell Hudson of the 200 block of North Laporte; 19-year-old Toyious Taylor, who is not in custody; 17-year-old Martay Brown of the 1800 block of South Harding; and 18-year-old George Brown of the 1600 block of South Harding.

The primary sellers of the group include 34-year-old Trainer Cunningham of the 1800 block of South Hamlin; 17-year-old Kenneth Walley of the 1500 block of South Harding; and 33-year-old Ramona Sims. Investigators also arrested a 15-year-old juvenile in possession of firearms. Williams did not disclose his name.

Expressing relief that this narcotics operation was brought down by police was Rev. James Wolfe, pastor of the Lawndale Christian Reform Church. “I was out there last fall when there were hot tempers and people were trying to jump all over the commander,” he said.

“Lawndale is a good neighborhood and I just want to say thank you to the police for a job well done,” he concluded.

“This is about the fourth operation that yielded positive results,” said community activist Michael James. “We’d like to thank the agencies involved that help make our community better.

“We hope this will encourage residents to partner with the police to improve the quality of life in our community,” he concluded.
